Philip A. Bernard, M.D., Chief Medical Information Officer at UK HealthCare’s Chandler Medical Center

 Philip A. Bernard, M.D., is the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for UK HealthCare’s Chandler Medical Center.

Dr. Bernard graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1993. He is board certified through the American Board of Pediatrics in both General and Critical Care as well as earning certification in Clinical Informatics from the American Board of Preventative Medicine.

He has been with UKHC since 2005, during which he has served as the medical director for both pediatric transport and the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), before becoming the Director of Physician IT services, where he championed a 95% voluntary adoption of electronic physician documentation prior to mandatory implementation. 

In addition to his current CMIO role, Dr. Bernard is the co-lead of five co-facilitators engaging over 200 physicians and 400 staff, which has been branded Advancing Best Care. He was also the Lead Care Redesign Physician for the transition of UKHC into a fully electronic health records system, spanning from the conception (2018) to present execution of this process.
